As my second blogiversary draws closer (it's on August 18th and a giveaway is coming up on August 16th), I had hoped to be able to announce Surrounded By Books Reviews open to review requests. Unfortunately, I'm still backlogged.
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I do have some review requests still waiting to read and review from two years ago. When I first opened my doors, I accepted all requests. So although some of the books I wouldn't mind reading, I was probably not as enthusiastic to read them as other books. Thus, they're remained on my Kindle and to-read list while I read other books that caught my interest.
But I plan to change that before the end of the year. Time is very valuable to me, so I have decided that any book I read I'll give it 15%. If by 15% of the book I'm not hooked, then I'll politely decline to read and review. That way, I should be able to get through my list by the end of December.
If I can clear my read and review requests list by the end of December, I will start making calls for particular types of books here and there throughout 2013 (example, I might put a call out for YA Contemporary or Thrillers, etc.). I want to be open to reviewing authors' books (and no, I don't care how you publish them), but I feel like I need to clear the list first and start fresh in 2013.
