Waiting on Wednesday: WALKING DISASTER by Jamie McGuire

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Walking Disaster
Beautiful, #2
By Jamie McGuire
Publication Date: April 2, 2013

From Goodreads:

Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In
Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In
Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

I found Beautiful Disaster to be an emotional and volatile read, so I'm looking forward to reading things from Travis' POV.

What's your "waiting on" pick?

Her expression was one of pity. I had seen her look at me that way many times before, but this time she was desperate.

Do you have a teaser? Leave it or a link to one in the comments.

Book Review: BEAUTIFUL DISASTER by Jamie McGuire

Title: Beautiful Disaster
Series: Beautiful #1
Author: Jamie McGuire
Publisher: Atria Books (August 14, 2012)
Format: eARC
Source: NetGalley
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Reviews: Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire is an emotionally charged roller coaster ride.

Supposedly good girl Abby Abernathy wants nothing to do with bad boy Travis Maddox. He’s brash, a womanizer, and everything she’s been running from since she left home. But when she loses a bet with him, she must stay in his apartment for a month. As they learn more about each other, the bad boy turns out not to be so bad and the good girl isn’t as good as she wants to be. They’re a cocktail for a beautiful disaster.

Beautiful Disaster kept me on the edge the entire time I read it. I just didn’t know how these two people, Abby and Travis, could ever work out, but I wanted them to so bad. McGuire holds back no punches as she displays her characters with all their flaws. The writing style was easy to get into, and the plot, although clichéd, still kept me guessing. I read the novel in several chunks, since the emotions were so intense I needed a break from reading it. The characters exhausted me, but were so entrancing. This book is definitely a guilty pleasure!

Jamie McGuire’s Beautiful Disaster grips the reader by her heartstrings and doesn’t let go.

Five Bookworms = I loved it!
