For 2013's A to Z Challenge, I am talking about book series, particularly some favorite series as well as series I've been waiting to read for a LONG time.

S is for ... Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi

I’ve followed Tahereh Mafi’s blog for a long time. When I heard about Shatter Me, the idea sounded so fantastic. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to read the first book yet. It’s just waiting on my Kindle for me. I’ve heard Mafi’s style is so unique, and I love the idea of crossing out words too.

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war– and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Our "S" Authors

Salnikova, Natasha A.

Natasha A. Salnikova was born in ex-Soviet Kazakhstan where she wrote and hosted two TV shows. At the age of 24 she moved to Moscow (Russia) to chase her screenwriting dream. Soon she became a writer for the national prime-time talk show “Tema” and soon also was writing for national sitcoms and dramas. At that time a publisher hired her to adapt a popular TV series into a novel, and Natasha realized that she could fulfill her writer’s hunger better with novels rather that TV scripts.

In Moscow Natasha met an American writer and traveler and in 2001 she made a big decision and moved to America to be with him, leaving behind her career and family. They married in 2001 and she started to build her American dream. She had acting roles in TV commercials, shot photographs for a Knopf/Random House travel guide, studied English and kept wiring.

In 2005 Natasha and her husband invited into their lives two beautiful girls.

Currently Natasha lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with her kids and her husband.

San Thomas, André

André SanThomas writes erotic romance stories about gloriously submissive females at the feet of delightfully dominant men. She spins a world where women can choose to submit or choose to walk away.

As a seat of the pants writer, there is no telling where her characters may take her once they come to life on the page. Wherever it is, she is destined to go, providing only suggestions and guidance, following their lead. That may take her to high-rise in a major metro area, or a mansion on a mountaintop, or even to another world where women are owned as property. Stickler, Stephen

Steven Stickler is no rocket scientist. He will never be confused with a professional athlete. He is not (despite widespread rumors) the actor who played Cousin Oliver in The Brady Bunch, nor was he a guest drummer for the Beatles during a brief period in the mid-1960s. He is something completely different: a writer. He began writing when he was five years of age and, perhaps due to an oversight by those in positions of authority, was never told to stop. Aside from the occasional story written for his son, he has spent most of his adult life writing non-fiction essays and reports for adults who enjoy spending their days in meetings, classrooms, and libraries. The Absolutely Amazing Adventures of Agent Auggie Spinoza is his first, but hopefully not his last, novel for children and young adults. He lives in the great Pacific Northwest of the United States, where he enjoys exploring the outdoors with his family and, of course, reading at least one book by Dr. Seuss every year. A “stickler” for secrecy, he has never allowed his face to be captured on film and fears that we have already revealed too much in this simple biography.
