Book Description: It just figures that the love of Lindsey Water's life isn't alive at all, but the grim reaper, complete with a dimpled smile and Scottish accent.
After transporting souls to heaven for the last 300 years, Aiden MacRae has all but given up on finding the one whose love will redeem him and allow him entry through the pearly gates.
Torn between her growing attraction to Aiden and heaven's siren song, Lindsey must learn the hard way whether love really can transcend all boundaries.
Review: Cyndi Tefft’s Between delves into a sweet romance that knows no boundaries.
When Lindsey Waters is in a terrible accident, she dies and meets the love of her life in Scotsman and Heaven’s transporter Aiden MacRae. Between earth and heaven, the two wander in a world of memories and fall in love, but a stronger call rips her away from him. Devastated, she pines over him as she is stuck between her old life and a life with her one love.
Tefft starts the book out with a bang with the car accident and Lindsey’s meeting of the grim reaper. The pace drags from there, though, with too much ordinary life (i.e. waking up, going to bed, eating) interspersed with interesting memories of Aiden and Lindsey’s former lives. I found myself skimming through too many details to get to the action. Half-way through the novel, the pace gains speed when Lindsey and Aiden’s worlds change again. The interaction in the latter half with Lindsey, her family, and friends redeems the novel and builds the tension to a wonderful ending.
Although the beginning was okay, the last half of Between was worth the read. I would read the sequel.
